Green Sandpiper (Tringa ochropus)
A Summer visitor to the UK and always an exciting bird to watch. Very agile medium sized falcon capable of catching small birds and dragonflies which it will eat on the wing. With long pointed wings, primaries swept backwards it can resemble a 'giant swift'. the adult's body is streaked blue longitudinally with distinctive 'red trousers'. Juvenile birds lack the red and have a buff tone.to the plumage.
