Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisaea)

Seen from Spring to Autumn in the UK and not at all common in Shropshire. The short (usually) red bill and legs and graceful bouncing flight distingusih this slightly smaller species from Common Tern. The distinct trailing bar to the primaries is another key feature. First Summer birds have an all black bill.
